Searching For Missing People. Presentation And Promotion Under 9P's Of Marketing. Smart, Creative Planning.

It's about searching for missing people or persons. In a new way. Smart, creative thinking and planning.. 

From the commanding officer from NYPD's Missing Persons Squad: "Increasing public awareness is the key to generating leads. The more people are aware, the better our chance to be successful."

Under Planning and Promotion in the 9P's of Marketing, plus Presentation. It includes an advertising campaign named "Invisible Faces." 

The NYPD and an advertising agency aren't using milk cartons but store window mannequins.  It's different so it's getting increased awareness under publicity and promotion. Smart.

    • Interactive/Internet/Web, Digital Media, Social Media

When A Penny In Costs Changes Promotion, Presentation And The Original Product, Under The 9P's Of Marketing.

It's a really dark day for any one over five years of age who liked Cracker Jack.

It's not about the popcorn.

It's not about the peanuts.

It's not about sales.

It may be about costs.

It's about a 125 year old product, with built in promotion, in a number of ways. Now it may have built in not much at all

It's about promotion and the actual product as an example under the nine P's of Marketing. 

It's more than just popcorn and peanuts. Really. 

It's really about the toy and nostalgia

This is a great marketing and product example (please note marketing examples used in school both undergrad and graduate Marketing classes are both positive and negative).

I believe this one will turn negative.

Sales will drop off. This week Cracker Jack has replaced its beloved "Prize Inside" toys. Really? Is that smart?

And they replaced the toy with a QR code. Really.

It's a link baseball game for mobile devices. Really.

I feel they could turn this into a Saturday Night Live skirt.

Price Of Fun At Universal Studios, Disneyland, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knott's: Gate, Online, Peak, Moderate, Lowest Demand, Five Day, Advance, And More. With Price And The 9P's Of Marketing.

It's not easy anymore to know what the price of admission is at an amusement park. Try asking someone what it costs? Eyes roll. And the lines and traffic. Plus crowds. Unbelievable.   

I discuss in my marketing and advertising classes, seminars and presentations that my aunt and mother took my brother and me to Disneyland in the first couple of weeks.  They paid 75 cents each for admission.  

The price for admission at Universal Studios, Disneyland, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott's ranges.

They use words like "gate," "online," "peak-demand," "moderate-peak," "lowest-peak," "online peak," based on demand. 

The price ranges from $95 to $119 at Disneyland;  $43 to $72 at Knott's; $90 to $115 at Universal Studios; and $51.99 to $76.99 at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Glad to save that penny at Six Flags.

I define "Price/Pricing" as "All aspects regarding pricing. The amount of money a consumer is willing to pay to obtain the product. Pricing includes wholesale/retail/promotional prices, discounts, trade-in allowances, quantity discounts, credit terms, sales and payment periods and credit terms." It involves pricing decision making and adjusting prices concerning the competitive environment, economic situations and involve buyer perceptions. Add demand. 

Pricing, under the nine P's of marketing is the sum of the values that customers exchange for the benefits of having or using the product or service, including amusement parks. Oh, we haven't gotten to parking, the food and beverages, ice cream, hats, toys, and more.

It surely was cheaper in 1955.

NBA Will Be The First. Who Wins. Who Loses. What And Where Is the Patch? Where Does It Fit? With 9P's Of Marketing.

Estimated at $120 Million to $150 Million in revenue per season. It's an NBA uniform patch 2/12 by 2 1/2 inches.

NBA will be the first major U.S. sports league to allow its member teams to sell individually advertising space on jerseys. I do a presentation at law schools and grad schools which includes the nine P's of marketing and the LA Galaxy's HERBALIFE uniforms.

Advertising falls as one of the eight elements under Promotion, one of the nine P's of marketing.

It's a three year pilot or advertising test for the NBA.

Where will the uniform patch be located: The ads be 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch on the left shoulder, opposite the Nike swoosh.

I've done another blog post on the "branded" jerseys used during the Feb. 12-14, 2016 NBA All-Star Weekend. The uniforms included an official automotive sponsor "Kia" patch, which was sewn on the upper chest and the logo of outgoing apparel sponsor Adidas was stitched on the right shoulder.

From NBA commissioner Silver: "Jersey sponsorships provide deeper engagement with partners looking to build a unique association with our teams and the additional investment will help grow the game in exciting new ways. We're always thinking about innovative ways the NBA can remain competitive in a global marketplace, and we are excited to see the results of this three-year trial."

What is interesting to me, and can fit as another example under Marketing insights, is that NBA fan ticket prices ("Price," under the nine P's) never go down but the TV revenue and advertising revenue including selling space on the uniforms go up.

Mitsubishi Marketing. Put This Marketing Example Under Product, In The 9P's Of Marketing. Let's Add All Of The Nine P's Of Marketing To The Mess.

Mitsubishi Marketing is a mess. It's been reported that Mitsubishi says that its auto fuel test misconduct dates back to 1991. Make that 25 years.

Another fuel testing crisis, for sure. More market value decreases. Jobs and employees affected.

Another Marketing example for the textbooks, the web and in every Marketing class.

All of the nine P's of Marketing can be used here.
  • Planning, for sure. Moving forward. 
  • People, including potential customers, actual customers and all of the employees. Add Place and dealers too.

I have many examples of "Product," as an element, component or part in the 9P's of marketing

Simply put its the t
he goods and service combination the firm offers to the target market ("People"), including variety of product mix, features, branding, designs, packaging, sizes, services, maintenance contracts, warranties and return policies.

A product (service) is anything that can be offered to a market for attention, acquisition, use or consumption that might satisfy a want or need.  (Kotler)


All aspects regarding a company or individuals product and services And there is more, especially looking at Marketing's objectives, strategies and tactics.


Look at branding; brand equity; brand name; quality; unique selling proposition (USP) and unique value proposition (USP); newness; complexity; physical appearance; packaging; labeling; ingredients; maintenance and service contracts; and others. 


A product line is a group of products that are closely related because they function in a similar manner, are sold to the same customer groups, are marketed or sold through the same types of outlets, or fall within given price ranges. The major product line decision involves product line length (the number of items in the product line. A company’s product mix has four important dimensions: width (number of different product lines), length (number of items a company carries within the product lines), depth (number of versions offered for each product in the line), and consistency (how closely related the various product lines are in end use, production requirements, distribution channels, or in any other way).


You may be asking about service or services? A service is any activity or benefit that one party can offer to another that is essentially intangible and does not result in the ownership of anything. (Kotler)


Have you ever thought how you asked a question to a consumer who has purchased your product? The right words, questions and/or phrasing can make a big difference, especially for new products.

The question should be about getting valuable product feedback. There is the marketing concept of a PLC or Product Life Cycle. Products improve. For example, rather than asking customers if they enjoy or liked your product, ask what they would do to improve it. Much more strategic.

  • Target’s using 3D modeling: They can take an idea from a sketch to a prototype in a matter of days, reported in AdAge in August 2015.  After receiving a sketch from the designer or engineer, they can create a detailed CAD model of the product then feed it into one of their 3D printers. What results is a physical representation of what the designer envisioned. Target claims that they currently are the only retailer with rapid-prototyping capabilities.
  • Product” includes packaging, as a subset of the total offering. Brand managers use packaging as a badge, enhancing the product’s value.  Here’s an example: in fall 2008, McDonald's scrapped and changed its package design across 118 countries, 56 languages. Packaging can increase the perceptions about the quality of the product.
A "Product" or service also should have Purpose, which is discovering the product’s real value, use, difference, reason, or function for the consumer and user.

In comparing the quality of a service consumers can relate it to their expectations and the experience with other services.

Better Access And More Timely. Movies At Home. While In The Theatre. Put Under Place, In The 9P's Of Marketing.

Want to see a movie that's in the theatres.  Not very likely. It's been a tradition for a long time. There's a distribution schedule.  Films or movies are exhibited directly to the public either through a movie theater or television, then personal home viewing (DVD or Blu-ray Disc, remember video tapes), VOD (video-on-demand) or download, Pay Services and then broadcast on the networks.

But things are changing.

Want to see at home what you are seeing in the theatres on opening weekend?

The "Price" would be around $50. That's under another of the nine P's of Marketing, "Pricing" or "Price."

There is a new service of seeing movies; it's Sean Parker's Screening Room.

The windows or showing movies may be changing. It's a fight The theatres want to keep the system which we now have. They want "People (another of the 9P's of Marketing) or the segment of movie goers to go to their local or regional theatres. But as their prices escalate the $50 price or fee seems more reasonable.
