Super Bowl LIX: It's Got To Be Close To $7.5 Million, And That's Not With Production or Celebrity Expenses.

It may never too early to use Public Relations, one of the eight components under Promotion in the 9P's of Marketing in announcing a Super Bowl spot, and they picked the day of announcing the NFL schedule.

With Mr. T?

With Tony Romo?

You may have guessed it...Skechers. And they has secured a spot in the Super Bowl in '25. For around $7.5 million for :30 seconds. Without any production or celebrity expenses.

It's the first TV spot announced for Super Bowl 2025 or SB LIX. They didn't release the cost on Fox , but the date to mark your calendars is February 9th, in New Orleans.

The broadcast is on Fox

Skechers has a funny spelling, says their benefits fit under the  mantra as "The Comfort Technology Company.”

If You're In The TV And Advertising Business, What’s The Best Time Or Time Slot For A TV Show?

What’s the best time slot for a TV Show?

Easy. With the largest potential audience, it's after the Super Bowl.

Next up. In 2025, Super Bowl LIX. Last year's audience was 123.4 Million viewers tuned in across several platforms, including CBS, Paramount+, Univision and Nickelodeon.

Next year, on Super Bowl Sunday the new series "Rescue Hi-Surf“ – the new lifeguard drama may be lucky. It’s been scheduled after the Super Bowl in '25.

While the time period isn’t always a winner it was this year.  CBS launched their hit “Tracker” after Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11th.

Previously FOX has aired “Next Level Chef” and five years ago, Fox aired an episode of “The Masked Singer.” Add one more which lasted only one season--“24: Legacy.”

Everyone Wants A Tip Now. Tipping Falls Under “Price In The Nine P’s of Marketing

Every time you pay for something, is a tip involved?  Are consumers feeling overwhelmed by the guilt trip or guilt tip boom.

Tip is a form of a price in my 9P’s of Marketing.

One example Dominos is giving back $3 if you tip the driver $3 or more. But what about every touch screen asking for a tip?

Price is all aspects regarding pricing.

The amount of money a consumer is willing to pay to obtain the product or service.

Pricing includes wholesale/retail/promotional prices, discounts, trade-in allowances, quantity discounts, credit terms, sales and payment periods and credit terms. Yes, tipping.

“Price” decision making also involves adjusting prices concerning inflation,  the competitive environment, economic situations and involve buyer perceptions.

“Pricing” is the sum of the values that customers exchange for the benefits of having or using the product or service.

Epic’s “Fortnite" will allow Players to build and profit from their own creativity.

These “Players” and developers will now be able to profit from their own “official” Lego Island games using Lego templates, props, consumables and items.

Lego and Epic's "Fortnite" Partnership with Profits.

Another of the 9P’s in Partners.

Another of the 9P's: Promotion with PR being one of the eight components of Promotion

This Lego Islands announcement was made at the Epic’s State of Unreal panel, the Game Developers Conference (GDC).

There’s been a partnership between Epic and Lego, most recent being the launch of “Lego Fortnite” in December 2023.

Easy Prediction: Super Bowl TV Spots For 2025 Will Be Increasing, With or Without The Taylor Swift Effect.

The Super Bowl will be on FOX in '25.

There was a big jump in tv audience from 2023 to 2024. The Super Bowl was on Nickelodeon and on CBS.

Super Bowl LIX will be on February 9th, 2025, in New Orleans and prices of $7 to 7.5 Million for a :30 spot will be going up.

That's my prediction after studying Super Bowl spots from 1984 to 2024.

The easiest reason is the audience size with the Taylor Swift effect.

Whether the Kanas City Chiefs are in another Super Bowl the prices will reflect this week's 123.7 million viewers.

Here's the logo for Super Bowl LIX which reflects the host city, with bright colors and a beaded look.

Under Promotion, What Is An Influencer, Creator? Plus There Are More Titles For Bringing Awareness Of Products And Services?

It's talent, but sometimes the title "influencer" is a dirty or negative word.

An "influencer" is one job title.

They can be also be called Talent, Bloggers, Streamers, Creators, Content Creators.

The most important part of their job description and actions should be to deliver increased awareness, and sales.

Tunisia: Using The 9P's Of Marketing, The Underground Economy Of Selling Gas Across The Border From Libya

So many examples of using the 9P's of Marketing: Presentation, Price, Place, Product. Add "Partners," in the underground, selling economy.

As many of you know I worked for half of high school and all of undergrad in Standard Stations (now Chevron gas/service stations). It was truly a gas and service station, working with cars. Also part of "Place" in the 9P's.
I found it fascinating the "illegal" popup," makeshift gas sellers in Tunisia, some miles from the Libya border. They are cheap and filters are a piece of cloth. Gas cans all over the place.
Safety First" wasn't on the list. "Price" was. Quality of product was suspect.

Car Dealers: Fair Pricing. Part of ” Price” and More Under 9P’s of Marketing

This is a hot, current topic. Pricing, including deceptive practices and deceptive pricing.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has defined “junk fees,” as “unfair or deceptive fees that are charged for goods or services (“Product’) that have little or no added value to the consumer (“People”), including goods or services (“Product”) that consumers (“People”) would reasonably assume to be included within the overall advertised price.”

The FTC has proposed a rule that, if finalized as proposed, would ban junk fees and bait-and-switch advertising by car dealers, including prohibiting deceptive advertising, requiring full upfront pricing, requiring consent for charges to consumers and prohibiting the sale of add-ons that have no benefit to buyers.

Netflix's Red Letter Or Red Envelope Day. In A Month: No More DVD Red Envelopes From Netflix.

And you thought that was so like before Covid.

On September 29th the last "rental" DVD by red envelope will go out from Netflix.

I would put that under "Place," or distribution in the 9P's of Marketing.

It's ending; Netflix will conclude its rental DVD program this fall, after 25 years and 5.2 billion DVDs sent through the mail.

What Is QTR? While It's Not Marketing Theory, It's An Interesting Concept, For Sure, For Retirees And More.

I put together a group of advertising executives. People "our" age. Most in 70's.

I put together once a month (either on Zoom or in person) a group of former classmates from Loyola High, Class of '67.

Today we will discuss "What is QTR? Quality Time Remaining.

Making the most of living, with or without retirement. About 60% are retired, and the remaining are like me working, teaching. All seem to volunteer.

QTR: “It means Quality Time Remaining,” on how you spend the rest of your life.

Quality Time Remaining is a philosophy, a concept, a filter for making choices in life, with your friends and people, sharing how to live passionate lives.

Under my 9P's of marketing you could segment these out  demographically, geographically, psychologically, technographically and with behavior characteristics.

QTR: It's the importance of planning beyond mere finance. Having enough to live on.

We will talk about one of the most important things is to take control of your remaining time on earth; it's allowing an individual the time to pursue the things most important to them. Quality...Time...Remaining. It's in the name.

Also referred to as Quality Time Left is planning for living--solutions to the things within our control.

  • The importance of having a plan. Taking action. Tips
  • Common pitfalls
  • Not only for yourself, but for the loved ones around you.

Disney said “We wanted partners that would really, really collaborate with us.”

It was a remake but Disney cast for “The Little Mermaid” remake it cast a Black actress for Ariel in Halle Bailey. Brands included Mattel, McDonald’s, plus Black-owned and Black-founded companies including Black Girl Sunscreen and Carol’s Daughter.

Baseball, Business And A Slash Line? Or Is It Business, Baseball And A Slash Line?

Here's my Marketing Slash Line:

New Product Development ("Product")/Sales Revenue/Profits

Comparing Business and Baseball? It's Summer 2023, isn't it?

What is a slash line? In baseball? In business?

A slash line is a term which is used to represent a baseball player's batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.

Those three stats are often referenced together in baseball media with forward slashes which is where the two words or phrase comes from.

Under the 9P's of Marketing, I would look at: New Product Development, under "Product," . Plus Sales revenue and Profits.

Dating and Match, Plus Blending "Partners" and "Place," Under Marketing's 9Ps

They are using outdoor or OOH (Out of Home) media.I have a separate handout of over 200+ different media vehicles

Where do people meet friends? Dates? At the supermarket, sometimes but this advertising campaign is created by an agency named Mojo Supermarket and runs in Los Angeles and New York.

So I found a campaign "Adults Wanted" which blends two companies or partners, Match and Mojo Supermarkets featuring dating.

Mojo Supermarket is promoting the dating site Match. It's where singles can find "more emotionally mature" partners.

One of their lines is "Cross a borough for someone who won't cross your boundaries."

I thought the PR release and promotion would have mentioned meeting in a supermarket?

The King? "King Of Beers?" Advertising Is A Part Of Promotion, And Promotion Is A Part Of The Nine P's

For 2023, in this ad,  you can't add Bud Light to the right of the bottle.

I found this ad from the American Marketing Federation (AAF) in my teaching files. The ad goes back to 2001, and includes the line "Advertising. The way great brands get to be great brands."

Unfortunately, there is much more than advertising and in the real world, Bud and BudLight have stumbled. Under Planning and People in the 9P's of Marketing, a brand looking at segmentation can't be all things to everyone and everybody.

At the end of May, shares of Bud Light’s parent company are now down more than 20% in the past two months since the beer delivered "personalized" memorabilia and cans to transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

Then the media uproar. KidRock shooting beer and the right-wing "woke" backlash. Not sure Budweiser is the "king."  Not sure "king" is the right word to promote?

It will take more than advertising to bring their sales back. It will take many tool in the Nine P's toolkit.

I am a senior Forensic Marketing Expert, Advertising expert, Advertising/Marketing consultant with Londre Marketing Consultants, LLC.

I created the 9P's of Marketing.

I own a copyright for the Nine P’s/9 P's of Marketing ©2007 concepts and Marketing practices, which augment the 1960's Marketing Mix (Product, Price, Promotion and Place) or the 4P’s by the American Marketing Association (AMA), Neil Borden and Jerome McCarthy in the study and practice of Marketing.

The Nine P's/9P's of Marketing help identify marketing problems in a number of strategic areas and help develop profitable marketing’s objectives, strategies, tactics and solutions. The 9P's are insightful. They were created for the digital age.

In Marketing, the "customer," or potential consumers should be the center of the universe or "king," but they are missing in the 4P's. I feel from my study and research that there needs to be more focus on the "Customer," or "People." "People" or market segments, which utilize demographics, geographics, psychographics, behavioral characteristics and technographics, are vital, learning components of the 9P's.

I consult and teach using these Marketing concepts and practices of the Nine P's/9P's of Marketing.

In the study and practice of Marketing, brand, advertising and marketing managers develop plans, strategies and tactics. The Nine P’s include these important concepts, practices and components:

  • People (Segmentation and Targeting)
    • Beer drinkers are not one segment and are not united.
    • In my 9P's, I stress that firms need to look and analyze potential, new, existing and repeat customers and users.
    • It's a special way at looking at diversity, if you review your gender, racial and other factors to your employees, customers, management, talent, board of directors, suppliers, partners, agencies, production and more.
    • To understand your "People" or market segments, you will need to or may need to utilize many characteristics, including demographics (such as age, family size, family life cycle, gender, income, occupation, education, religion, race, culture, generation, nationality, and social class), geographicspsychographics (buyers are on basis of psychological/personality traits, lifecycle, values), behavioral characteristics (needs and benefits, decision roles, user and usage-related variables, occasions, user status, usage rate buyer-readiness stage, loyalty status, attitude and multiple bases) and technographics (potential buyers may or may not have the software and computer skills. Think employees here too, which may be a vital component or components of the 9P's of Marketing.
    • Look at your actual customers. Then once a target market is chosen, the organization can develop its marketing strategies to target a market segment or market segments
    • It’s easy to market toward demographics, but brands can’t connect with people unless they learn how they think. By developing mindset-based marketing strategies, brand decision-making can better resonate with these segments, targets and audiences to increase consumer loyalty.
    • Brand managers need to look at at their customers and/or potential users. Do you understand your potential customer's purchase and usage touchpoints, their habits and how they engage with your brand? Competing for their attention?
    • Place "consumers," "People" or "potential buyers" in the middle of a circle. Find information or data on them. Add the other components in the other nine P's.
    • Post Covid 19 pandemic, I'm seeing "People" want an exceptional buying experience, which includes ethics and the company’s values. People are caring about convenience, comfort, ethics, and sustainability.  Look at home delivery of meals and everything on Amazon and Walmart or Target.
    • “People” or consumers prefer to buy “Products” from brands that share their values and “purpose-driven” movements.
    • Targeting mindsets allows brands to connect with consumers on an emotional level, which positively affects brands’ bottom lines.
    • Consumer and shopping data, plus first-party data can also help brands identify what people find valuable and important. You need to know where they live, how they work and play?
    • "People" or targeting has almost always been left out of the traditional "Marketing Mix," almost every diagram includes the four P's with Product, Promotion, Place and Price.
    • In Marketing, from my education, training, research and analysis plus testimony, there needs to be greater focus on the buyer, "customer," or "People," in both planning ad implementation.
  • Product and Services
    • For Bud the product line is suffering. In declining sales.
    • Under the 9P's, it's the goods and service combination the firm offers to the target market, including variety of product mix, features, branding, designs, packaging, sizes, services, maintenance contracts, warranties and return policies.
    • A product (service) is anything that can be offered to a market for attention, acquisition, use or consumption that might satisfy a want or need.
  • Place (Distribution)
  • Price:
    • I’m finding that “People” or potential customers in my 9P’s, actual consumers are no longer buying “Products” and services based solely on “Price” and product quality.
    • An IBM study found that Nearly six in 10 consumers ("People") surveyed are willing to change their buying habits to reduce environmental impact. They found that over 70% would pay a premium of 35%, on average, for brands and products that are sustainable and environmentally responsible.
  • Planning
  • Promotion:
    • There are eight (8) major, strategic components or communication elements which are personal and non-personal communication activities.
    • The activities that communicate the merits of the overall product include:
      • Personal Selling/ Sales Force: Sales persons
        • Listen more than you talk. People who listen more, learn more, plus helps you position your service/product/solution or offering.
      • Advertising: There's an expression "It is only creative if the product or service sells." I wanted to add "It is only good media spending if it sells."
      • Sales Promotion
      • Collateral Materials
      • Direct Marketing (also referred to as Action or Direct Response Advertising)
      • Interactive/Internet/Web, Digital Media, Social Media:
      • Events and Experiences
      • Public Relations/PR
      • With inflation at increasing higher levels, we are seeing brick and mortar retailers needing physical traffic to survive. Gas prices at record levels are keeping customers from driving more. One stop shopping is more important than ever.
